Beginner guitar lessons

Regardless of which style you have in mind, the basics are the same. I’d recommend learning on the classical guitar and working your way towards a specific style.

Learning with the classical guitar makes you appreciate the necks width and the stretch of the frets. In turn, it’s easier to fret and to press whilst making descent progress.

Acoustic Guitar – Fingerstyle

Acoustic guitar lessons typically gear towards ‘finger-style guitar’ which closely relates to classical guitar.

This style is where you’ll be learning to play the bass, chords and melody together to make it sound ‘as the one person band’.

Finger-style guitar is linked to classical guitar because techniques are similar but it’s considered less formal but by no means less technical.

Electric guitar

Whether you want to play fast rock / metal or slow jazz ballads. There are different types of electric guitar for different styles. You’ll be playing your favourite riffs in no time (with practice).

Classical Guitar

The classical guitar is a formal style typically learned by completing the grades and reading music. Examining boards would typically be Trinity Guildhall or ABRSM.

Music Theory

You might enjoy enhancing your knowledge with Music Theory from ABRSM. Increasing challenges which provide a “broad” approach and increases confidence when reading and working out what you’re trying to play.
