Learn for fun

Electric, classical, bass, music theory.

Whether you’re learning for fun or for grades you can learn online or face to face if you’re local. Learning online doesn’t detract from results. I don’t just show you how to play the guitar I’ll teach you how to practice. Beginners to advanced, welcome.

Learn for grades

Online, face to face, a mix?

Learning for fun and learning how to practice is a great foundation for completing practical grade with Trinity and theoretical grades with ABRSM. Complete grades 1 – 8 with either Rock School or Trinity Rock & Pop and complete your theory grades 1-5 online with ABRSM.

Does it really work?

The benefits

High quality visuals

With online video conferencing being the norm, learning the guitar online is becoming increasingly popular too. Whether you want to learn acoustic, classical or electric guitar you’ll quickly become confident in your guitar journey whilst learning online.

High quality audio

You’ll get high-quality audio as standard, not just basic laptop sound. With audio interfaces used for both voice and instrument, the signal is much clearer. Students have achieved Grade 8, DofE Gold Awards, and strong music theory results through online learning.

Independent learning style

Learning guitar online supports independent skill development through regular practice, goal-setting, and self-motivation. It encourages students to take ownership of their progress and develop problem-solving habits. These strengths complement other learning styles and often benefit areas beyond music.

Believe beyond the requirements.

The guitar is a skill for a life time.

3 months

No bronze, silver or gold award is the same from person to person, despite having begun to learn the same instrument. Each will vary depending on if you’ve played before and have a set achievement in mind. This could be: gig ready, have completed a grade or 2, learned some theory, learned for fun. Modern exam structures are also available.

6 months

Within 6 months you can expect to have a couple of tunes (or more) comfortably within your repertoire whether you’re learning rock, classical, jazz, blues. You’ll have started with the basics and have gained confidence with a proven result. You’ll also realise that by now the guitar is a challenging skill to learn which encourages the mind.

12 months

Completing your gold award? Congratulations. The guitar takes time to learn and once fluent enough you’ll now be able to learn songs in your chosen style quickly and  efficiently. It’s also possible that you’ll have achieved grades 3 -5 from an accredited exam board. That’s both proof and progress, whether online or in person.

DofE info

If your child is completing their DofE award, they’ll need to be aged 14–24 to take part. If they’re considering guitar or music theory for their Skills section, you’re in the right place. Lessons can be taken online or in person, and they’ll receive an official assessment for their DofE portfolio.

They can also work towards a music grade in acoustic, electric, classical, bass guitar or music theory. Exams can be submitted online or taken in person—both options are equally valid and won’t affect the outcome.

For performance exams, the video submission must be one continuous take and include either three pieces plus scales, or five pieces without scales.
